I'm leaving next year. My hope is that after I've crossed the Oregon border, I see a giant asteroid come down in the rear view mirror and wipe the state out.

$381 for registration renewal on a pick-up is absolutely the last straw.

Idaho here I come!

Holy shit, I just realized some things:

1. I no longer give a shit about California's utterly asinine microstamping law or any other retarded thing they pass.
2. I'm probably going to put a suppressor on the AR-15 because I fucking can.
3. My state income taxes are about to take a dive.
4. I'll get to see snow in the winter.

I have finally, after months of planning and preparation, received approval from management to become a remote employee. I leave in July.

Swing through my neck of the woods. We can have a cool one or two or dozen. The BBQ is on me.

Congratulations on both. Working remote sounds like an impressive achievement.

I'm sure that it helped that W would randomly yell, "Charlie's in the wire!" Then he would fall to the ground looking for cover, pulling any immediate coworker with him.

Cool. Someday I want to move north too. Unfortunately for Old School, I will tempted to stop in Oregon rather than driving through.

So why Idaho?

Congratulations and good luck!

There's a total solar eclipse coming up on August of 2017. Beat the crowds, make sure you pick your home strategically situated now, then enjoy the eclipse from the comfort of your back yard when the time comes! :)

5 years ago I was asked, "why Idaho?"

You'll run into a majority being Cali transplants if going near Boise valley area. They brought California with.

So... I guess I need to be the first person to tell you this. When you move to another city as a remote worker, you'll be paid the prevailing wage there.

Since you're moving from California to some other place, probably rural, you're likely to get paid much less or at the very least you won't see any yearly increments to your salary.

Cascadia or bust

that whole area is a gorgeous, if wet, part of the world.

Global Warming will dry it out for you. After a cataclysm of erosion problems, it will become grasslands. Then the zombies will come, and then the glaciers.

Washington is much better than Oregon. Less rain.

But the invitation for some suds applies.
