|
|
Hello, dear community!
I'm trying instalation with gentoo minimal cd. There is no driver for my ethernet controller on it.
I've got a network error after butting from minimal cd (it is usb in my case).
It seems that r8169 is wrong one. And I've got sources of correct one from Realtek site.
Any advices?

The system rescue CD probably has the support you need. I would be more confident, but recently it failed me on a newer intel Ethernet driver (e1000e to be exact.) Even if it doesn't, you could create a custom system rescue CD that does (I have not tried this, but the web page says it can be done.)
One alternative that is admittedly more work is to download everything onto an external media (stage3, portage snapshot, all the distfiles you need) and install off line. _________________ First things first, but not necessarily in that order.
Apologies if I take a while to respond. I'm currently working on the dematerialization circuit for my blue box. |

umka69,
Code: | # lspci -vkk
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 0c)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 8554
...
Kernel driver in use: r8169
Kernel modules: r8169' | Thats correct.
Code: | # ifconfig enp3s0
... | shows that the interface is there but it does not have an IP address.
Is the cable faulty?
plugged into the wrong interface, if you have more than one ?
does your router do MAC address filtering?
Does just work? _________________ Regards,

I checked all filters, interfaces status, cable. All ones are ok.
"net-setup" utile didn't give any result too.
Now I'm trying offline installation and waiting for a new advices.
Maybe possible to change minimalcd kernel? _________________ Make a wish, this text is magic. |
