Trying to do a world update 'emerge -uavDN world' and getting the below 'missing IUSE' error on perl, does anyone know how to solve this?

emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy "dev-lang/perl[-build]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- dev-lang/perl-5.16.3::gentoo (Missing IUSE: build)
(dependency required by "dev-vcs/subversion-1.6.17-r7" [installed])
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

cgill27 ...

you just have a rather old version of subversion (and seem to be hitting bug 485166 due to this). Updating to =dev-vcs/subversion-1.7.14 (current stable) should resolve the issue.

best ... khay

Hey khay thanks for the response, I have subversion 1.6.17 installed and setup in a local layman repo, this is so we can stay at 1.6.17 alittle longer (this is a subversion server and not ready to upgrade svn yet)

So do you see a way to upgrade and keep svn 1.6.17 ?

cgill27 ... yes, as the ebuild is in a local repo edit the ebuild and remove the dev-lang/perl[build] requirement, then rebuild the digest ('ebuild subversion-1.16.17.ebuild digest'). The current ebuild has the following ...

Code:
perl? ( dev-lang/perl )

... that should be all that needs modified.

best ... khay
