|I cannot configure Kwin's compositing to use OpenGL 2 or 3.1 and raster graphics, Kwin output shows something like "opengl driver recommends xrender based compositing"
Why is this happening? It's quite annoying. I know the setting can somehow be forced (not sure how exactly, wasn't very clear) but I don't want to have to force kde to use OpenGL, it should just accept it.
I am using an nvidia card on the proprietary drivers. I have the opengl useflag as well and mesa as well as opengl installed. I also have 20-nvidia.conf set in xorg.conf.d.
Identifier "Nvidia GTX 550-Ti"
Oops, I had not configured opengl to use nvidias implementation.
Solution was to run:
|#eselect opengl set 1 |
Or in other words run "eselect opengl list" find the nvidia entry and set it to that.
This picture was my biggest reason for ever trying Gentoo <3
