Good morning!
I've been away from Gentoo for over 3 years and I can't remember a darn thing. I've installed Gentoo, and trying to Gnome up and running, but I'm getting this issue. Very simple issue and I can't believe I don't remember how to fix it. Here is the output of Gnome-Light:
Rizz0-Built ~ # emerge gnome-light
* IMPORTANT: 6 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
* Use eselect news to read news items.
Calculating dependencies... done!
!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy "net-libs/webkit-gtk:3[introspection]" has unmet requirements.
- net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.2.6::gentoo USE="egl geoloc introspection jit opengl webgl (-aqua) -coverage -debug -gles2 -gstreamer -libsecret -spell -test"
The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
introspection? ( gstreamer )
The above constraints are a subset of the following complete expression:
geoloc? ( introspection ) introspection? ( gstreamer ) gles2? ( egl ) webgl? ( exactly-one-of ( gles2 opengl ) ) !webgl? ( at-most-one-of ( gles2 opengl ) )
(dependency required by "gnome-extra/sushi-3.10.0" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gnome-base/nautilus-3.10.1[previewer]" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gnome-base/gnome-light-3.10.0" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gnome-light" [argument])
Thanks in advance for any assistance! |

Hello,
What profile did you chose ? There is a gnome specific profile, which will enable all necessary flags. _________________ Kind regards,

you need to add the gstream USE flag since introspection is active. _________________ Kind regards,

FrankRizz0,
Code: | emerge gnome-light -uDNav | may just work. The key here is the -N option, which will rebuild already installed packages if the USE flags they have been build with have changed _________________ Regards,

Still having issues:
Rizz0-Built ~ # emerge gnome-light
* IMPORTANT: 6 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
* Use eselect news to read news items.

!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled

(x11-libs/cairo-1.12.16::gentoo, installed) pulled in by
(no parents that aren't satisfied by other packages in this slot)
(x11-libs/cairo-1.12.16::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
x11-libs/cairo[opengl] required by (net-libs/webkit-gtk-2.2.6::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)
dev-libs/libxml2:2
(dev-libs/libxml2-2.9.1-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by
dev-libs/libxml2[python,python_targets_python2_6(-)?,python_targets_python2_7(-)?,python_single_target_python2_6(+)?,python_single_target_python2_7(+)?] required by (dev-util/itstool-1.2.0-r1::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge)

!!! Enabling --newuse and --update might solve this conflict.
!!! If not, it might help emerge to give a more specific suggestion.
!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy "media-libs/libcanberra[gtk3]" has unmet requirements.
- media-libs/libcanberra-0.30-r1::gentoo USE="gnome gstreamer gtk gtk3 pulseaudio sound udev -alsa -oss -tdb"

(dependency required by "gnome-base/gnome-light-3.10.0[gnome-shell]" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "gnome-light" [argument])
My USE flags:

Neddy, here is the output of emerge gnome-light -uDNav:
Rizz0-Built ~ # emerge gnome-light -uDNav
* IMPORTANT: 6 news items need reading for repository 'gentoo'.
* Use eselect news to read news items.
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Portage is pretty much telling you what it needs.
You need to add alsa USE flag for libcanberra.
Edit /etc/portage/package.use
then add Code: | media-libs/libcanberra alsa |
However, it's odd that the alsa USE flag if not auto set for you though as it's a default use flag for that package, are you sure you're using the right profile?
Code: | eselect profile set 4 | since you want Gnome or...
Code: | eselect profile set 5 | if you want Gnome and have your system setup for systemd. _________________ Linux. Freedom. Power. |
