I was wondering how you set up XFree8t to use an external monitor. Also, if you will have to do anything special to get a widescreen laptop view compressed to a rectangular laptop view.... |

Well if you have a laptop (which it sounds like) you can always just boot up with your lid closed. This kicks in some internal switch that makes the vga port active and not your screen. To get it to work with my Fn buttons I had to add the following to my XF86config file under the section for my video card...
Code: | Option "extern_disp" |
Hope this helps!!

What video card(s) support Option "extern_disp"? I have an i855GM in my dell 500m and this option doesn't get my Fn-F8 key to work. This option isn't documented anywhere that I can find. Why is this feature so hard to get working? _________________ If tugboats were bigger, they'd be the ones getting tugged. |
