PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2014 2:50 pm    Post subject: [SOLVED] app-office/akonadi-server 1.12.1 doesn't work Reply with quote

Hi,

During last update of kde (4.12.3-r1 -> 4.12.4) and update of akonadi-server (1.11.0 -> 1.12.1) I could not start akonadi, so I did downgrade it into 1.11.0 and it worked with kde 4.12.4.

Today after an update of kde from 4.12.4 -> 4.13.0 emerge needed akonadi-server 1.12.1, but again I could not start it, but when I am trying to downgrade it into 1.11.0 i have such message:
Code:
!!! The following installed packages are masked:
- app-office/akonadi-server-1.12.1::gentoo (masked by: package.mask)
/etc/portage/package.mask:
#>app-office/akonadi-server-1.11.0

Code:
*  app-office/akonadi-server
      Latest version available: 1.11.0
      Latest version installed: 1.12.1
      Size of files: 229 kB
      Homepage:      http://pim.kde.org/akonadi
      Description:   The server part of Akonadi

What to do or to downgrade akonadi-server or fix the problem so akonadi can start?

Hi Xywa,

no need to downgrade the whole kde. Now I know what's your intension for your other request. :wink:

You can do different things to fix that:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=331867

or this, take a look for coment 5 here, that's the easiest way, but with some disadvantages like re-indexing, redirect your mail accounts and filters to the right directories, Calendars, Contacts and eventually some more.

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506608

Much succes, Andy.

Had the same problem, read https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=331867#c9, it's the one Andy already mentioned.

On konsole:

Code:
~ $mysql -p -u root
mysql>USE akonadi;
mysql>DELETE FROM PartTable WHERE name = 'GID';
mysql>exit

That's it.

Many thanks. I am now updating again to 4.13.0 an will try. I understand this is the same as bellow:
Quote:
Daniel Vrátil 2014-03-14 18:36:05 UTC
Ha! We found the culprit. GID is not supposed to be there, it's not a part. It looks like after an update you started KMail, but did not restart Akonadi, so KMail was sending the "GID" data, but Akonadi did not know it so it though it's a part type.

You can run following query in DB Console to get rid of it:

DELETE FROM PartTable WHERE name = 'GID';

This will fix the migration to 1.12 for you. I'll add a check to Akonadi to prevent this from happening to others.

I'am using external MYSQL server. If you are using the internal server the commands of my last post won't work.

For the internal (external as well) myqsl this should work:

Open "Akonadi Console",
within the slide "Console DB" you can execute the
Code:
DELETE FROM PartTable WHERE name = 'GID';
command

Hi Guys,

for information only.

Should be fixed now, as you can see in Comment 9 here:
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=506608

Regards, Andy.
