Can you try `emerge dev-util/gtk-doc` and let me know if that fixes it up?

Have now added this missing build dependency to the ebuild, such that it works for the next user that comes along; thank you very much for discovering this, have a great day.

Because GNOME 2 in the Portage tree shares a lot of package directories with GNOME 3, it needs a meta package or a mask to stay with GNOME 2 and avoiding GNOME 3 from being brought in; given that the GNOME team has expressed to no further want to maintain GNOME 2, it will also face removal over time from the Portage tree. Continuation of GNOME 2 depends on people interested to copy it, develop it and maintain it further, as it faces compatibility and security issues as time passes by an the rest upgrades; for this reason, I've decided to bring infirit's work on MATE to the Portage tree as a maintained alternative with an active upstream.
