Problem: libsoup is a Gnome 3.8 mess which kills my Eclipse 4.2. And it's required by net-misc/networkmanager, which I use on the same machine.

Now, let's look at the code.

Code:
#if WITH_CONCHECK
static void
nm_connectivity_check_cb (SoupSession *session, SoupMessage *msg, gpointer user_data)
{
        GSimpleAsyncResult *simple = user_data;
        NMConnectivity *self;
        NMConnectivityPrivate *priv;
        NMConnectivityState new_state;
        const char *nm_header;

        self = NM_CONNECTIVITY (g_async_result_get_source_object (G_ASYNC_RESULT (simple)));
        g_object_unref (self);
        priv = NM_CONNECTIVITY_GET_PRIVATE (self);

        if (SOUP_STATUS_IS_TRANSPORT_ERROR (msg->status_code)) {
                nm_log_info (LOGD_CONCHECK, "Connectivity check for uri '%s' failed with '%s'.",
                             priv->uri, msg->reason_phrase);
                new_state = NM_CONNECTIVITY_LIMITED;
                goto done;

This is the only part where libsoup is used - and it's already ifdef'd.

Now, the configure script is more of a problem:

Code:
# Check whether --enable-concheck was given.
if test "${enable_concheck+set}" = set; then :
  enableval=$enable_concheck; enable_concheck=${enableval}
else
  enable_concheck=${have_libsoup}
fi

So if I think I don't want to have libsoup on my system, because
a) it's a cludge for lazy people who cant write a HTTP parser (and cant use libcurl) it doesn't even seems to support SSL
b) I dont want a bunch of cludges from Gnome just to get a networkmanager
c) (and I actually don't like it due to it conflicting with Eclipse 4.2's )

- do you think it is a proper idea to a) add valid 'concheck' use flag to networkmanager b) without the flag, disable concheck in configure.
