I've been using linux on and off for about 5 years now, I just haven't found one that can completely take over my windows tasks. I tried Gentoo 1.1a a while back and did a complete build. I liked it a lot, but didn't have the time to alwasy build from sources. I'm going to reformat again soon and I think I'm going to move completely to linux, with the help of Gentoo 1.2 Stage3 i686! My question is, goes it have good support for tarball installs and RPM installs? Does it integrate ok with the portage system? |

i have found it integrates about as well as compiling stuff from tarballs on a rpm based system. You will have to make sure that whatever you install thru rpm -i in gentoo, all your dependencies are met and rpm -i foo.rpm --nodeps.... |
