Currently Links seems to be set as my default browser when clicking on a hyperlink in Thunderbird or clicking on Help in any other application (other than Firefox or Thunderbird obviously)

Is there anyway to set this - specifically to firefox? I found an old Gentoo Wiki article which said set the $BROWSER variable - I did this but it had no effect.

In the case of Thunderbird, I set configuration switches so the next time it prompted me for which application to open a hyperlink with - so that's fine but such configuration options aren't available for all applications. But there seems to be some system-wide setting which is using Links as the default browser. Is there anyway to set this?

Thanks in advance guys

I think the "standard" approach is xdg-utils, but not sure how many programs actually follow the standard.

That seems to have done the trick, thanks! :)

specifically;

Code:

xdg-mime default firefox.desktop x-scheme-handler/http

Oddly, when you test this in the terminal using xdg-open, it still calls LInks but it seems to work fine now from other applications.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
