When installing Gentoo, I get: "WARNING: Re-reading the partition tabled failed with error 22: Invalid argument.
The kernel still uses the old table. The new table will be used at the next reboot or after you run partprobe(8) or kpartx(8)
Syncing disks."

I haven't installed Gentoo before.

I'm installing it on a Western Digital 1TB Caviar Black (64MB Cache/7200 RPM).

Here's what I did.

Created extended partition. Create 3 others (Swap, Rip, Home)

1. new, extended, both default values.
2. new, logical, first default, last +4G
3. new, logical, first default, last +20GB
4. new, logical, both default values.

What did I do wrong?

Technically you shouldn't repartition disks that have mounted partitions on it, so you shouldn't partition your root disk (even if you're not touching the root partition). The suggestion to reboot is needed just so your partitions are unmounted before rereading the partition table...
