Hi,

I created a RAID1 array with name=4 and I can see that it created it as /dev/md/4_0.

First question: what does the trailing _0 mean?

Also, I mounted it this way:

Code:
# mount /dev/md/4_0 /mnt/gentoo

and I'd like to check that it's mounted. So I issued:

Code:
# mount
/dev/md125 on /mnt/gentoo type ext4 (rw)

Why doesn't it show /dev/md/4_0 instead of /dev/md125?
I know that /dev/md/4_0 is a symlink to md125 but I'd really like a simple/quick way of programmatically checking that /dev/md/4_0 is mounted.

Is there anywhere else I can check for /dev/md/4_0 mount status?

Thanks,

Vieri

I think it is a bug for the mount command to use "/dev/md125" instead of "/dev/md/4_0".

Since it does that, when you see "/dev/md125",scan contents of "/dev/md/" and resolve each entry until you find the one that resolves to "/dev/md125" and in your case, that will be "/dev/md/4_0".

one tool i know of that will report "/dev/md/4_0" is zuluMount[1].

A zuluMount-cli command to print a list of mounted volumes looks like below
Quote:

[ink@mtz ~]$ zuluMount-cli -E
/dev/sda5
/dev/sdb5
/dev/md/mdraid
[ink@mtz ~]$
