Hello Everyone,

I just read this:

http://www.raid-recovery-guide.com/raid5-write-hole.aspx

I have heard about the write-hole before, but I don't think I had a clear understanding of it now. One precaution they mention is to resynchronize your parity regularly. I have been trying to google this for LVM, but I'm not coming up with anything... perhaps I'm phrasing it wrong, or perhaps (and I hope that this is not the case) LVM doesn't account for the write-hole at all.

Does anyone know how to resync the parity on their raid5/raid6 arrays in LVM? Are there any other precautions that should be taken with regard to the write-hole and LVM?

Thanks :)

G

(BTW - I know I should use RAID 10... but please assume this is not an option).
