I want to be able to change easily between desktop environments so I installed Slim. I have it set up properly with xdm and everything seems to run fine, but no matter which session I select with f1 it just leads to a black screen until I switch terminals and restart xdm. Every DE environment starts fine with startx and .xinitrc. I've looked over the Slim documentation, but, it's, well, slim :roll: Any ideas?

Hi,

As I wrote in this topic, I managed to start XFCE4 (but I guess that the DE is not important in this case) after I have compiled slim without consolekit and pam with
Code:
USE="-pam -consolekit" emerge slim

Probably this workaround as its drawbacks, but at least I can start the DE (so far I have noticed that thunar does not mount my USB stick and Suspend, Shut Down and Restart menu items are disabled, but I can live with that :) )
