I have octave-3.6.4-r1 installed and without any particular quirks:

Code:
[ebuild   R    ] sci-mathematics/octave-3.6.4-r1:0/3.6.4  USE="X fftw glpk gnuplot imagemagick opengl postscript qhull qrupdate readline sparse zlib -curl -doc -hdf5 -static-libs"

When I run octave, however, I immediately get the following error:

Code:
For information about changes from previous versions, type `news'.

error: 'true' undefined near line 27 column 24
error: called from:
error:   /usr/share/octave/3.6.4/m/help/unimplemented.m at line 27, column 22
error:   /usr/lib64/octave/3.6.4/oct/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/PKG_ADD at line 1, column 0

Searching the interwebz doesn't give me anything, apart from a suggestion to put the directory containing the libraries into LDPATH, but doing so doesn't change anything. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Installed the very same version with the same use flags. Could not reproduce your problem.

Same version/use flags?

Reemerge does not help? World is up to date? @preserved-rebuild and revdep-rebuild dont re-emerge anything?
Code:
emerge -1va --quiet-build y sci-mathematics/octave
emerge -DNuva --with-bdeps y --quiet-build y --keep-going world
emerge -av --keep-going --quiet-build y @preserved-rebuild
revdep-rebuild -i -- -av --keep-going --quiet-build y

I tried version 3.6.4. I have less USE flags: "(X glpk imagemagick qhull qrupdate readline sparse zlib -curl -doc -fftw -gnuplot -hdf5 -opengl -postscript -static-libs)"

Reemerge did not help. World is up to date. Neither revdep-rebuild nor @preserved-rebuild did emerge something.

The last version (3.8.1-r1) does not have this problem.
