I'm currently running GNOME 3.10. All is fine. Somehow I 'd like to launch a session through startx. Since systemd is in use, does one still use .xinitrc ? Yes or no, I appreciate someone telling me how to achieve this. Thank's in advance.

Hum...

Better wait until fully functional. I can live with gdm. It's just a bit long to start on my machine.

Thank you very much for your notice.

have a look at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=806491

Code:
# make logind work with startx
# see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=806491#c20
function stx {
  local tty_num=$(tty | grep -oE '[0-9]+$')
  startx -- vt$tty_num

To add to poncho's suggestion:

http://blog.falconindy.com/articles/back-to-basics-with-x-and-systemd.html

You can check for this problem (on systems booting with OpenRC using the systemd logind, or booting systemd) by running:

Code:
loginctl show-session $XDG_SESSION_ID

It should contain the line:

Code:
Active=yes
