I try to run pdflatex but I keep getting:

Code:
pdflatex: Symbol `kpse_def_inst' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking
./build: line 10:  7016 Segmentation fault      pdflatex present.tex

What could be the cause for this?

I think you need to either do a revdep-rebuild or "emerge @preserved-libs".

I think this was caused by the kpathsea library package getting upgraded but the packages that link to it have not been upgraded. It the automatic ways to upgrade packages that depend on kpathsea don't work then you could perhaps fall back to using "equery depends kpathsea" to find a list of packages that directly depend on it. I imagine there are probably much better ways.
