Hi,

I try to automatize a process, and for that I need to insert data from a few csv files into calc, and these data must be synchronized in case of changes into the csv files.

It work with a shell script, but not with calc. After the launch of calc, Menu, Insert -> link data from external file, I get a file selector, in which I select one of the csv files. A new window appear in which I can chose options for the insertion. Continue get me back to the first window, in which the file name appear, but it is no available data, and the OK button is grey and didn't work. If I open the same file with File -> Open, it work and I get the data into a new sheet, but they will not be synchronized in case of change in the csv file. I try with several of them, same result.

Libreoffice, calc and all that kind of stuff are new for me. So maybe I am doing something wrong, I am just not sure It can also be a bug or wrong use flags:

Code:
[ebuild     U  ] app-office/libreoffice-4.1.4.2 [4.1.3.2-r2] USE="bluetooth branding cups dbus gtk java opengl vba webdav (-aqua) -debug -eds -gnome -gstreamer -gtk3 -jemalloc -kde -mysql -odk -postgres -telepathy {-test}" LIBREOFFICE_EXTENSIONS="presenter-minimizer wiki-publisher -nlpsolver -scripting-beanshell -scripting-javascript" PYTHON_SINGLE_TARGET="python2_7 -python3_3" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_3" 120,903 kB

And I don't run gnome or kde.

I am not sure how to fix your issue, it sounds like a bug in the code maybe?

I personally use SoftMaker Office on Linux (http://www.softmaker.com/english/ofl_en.htm), as I was too used to the MS Office 2003 way of doing things. They have a 30 day trial you could see if it works instead?

Sorry I cannot be of more help

Maybe this thread can help you https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=46994

Obs.: you can try gnumeric too, it's specific for spreedsheets.

I done an update world, and this issue continue. I try to do the same with the databse. It can open the file and create a read only sheet, and when I try to copy that sheet in order to get a read/write sheet, the whole thing just freeze. So, that's definitely a bug, maybe 2. From the second, it look like something is missing or doesn't have the right permission.

But in the new version, Insert -> Sheet from a file, do work now, and I can link it to the csv file.

So now I have to figure out how to do with calc what a 122 lines bash script can do.
