Synopsis
A vulnerability in Openswan could result in execution of arbitrary
code or Denial of Service.
Background
Openswan is an implementation of IPsec for Linux.
Affected Packages
Package: net-misc/openswan
Vulnerable: < 2.6.39
Unaffected: >= 2.6.39
Architectures: All supported architectures
Description
A buffer overflow flaw has been discovered in Openswan when using
Opportunistic Encryption.
Impact
A remote attacker could send a specially crafted DNS TXT record,
possibly resulting in execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of
the process or a Denial of Service condition.
Workaround
There is no known workaround at this time.
Resolution
All Openswan users should upgrade to the latest version: Code: | # emerge --sync
