Maybe someone can help me. In KDE My clock is wrong and im in system settings trying to change it and its shaded out. Says I dont have permission. Which is fine because I wouldnt X as root. but it does not ask me for a root password so how do I change it. Thanks.

irc.freenode.net #gentoo helped me out. The answer is to use the CLI date. like it says in the handbook http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=1&chap=5. I didn't realize that would affect the time in KDE too.

id merge up the NTP suite and sync against international clocks... past that its going to require timezones are set correctly. then "date" will report the exact time that it is, and in turn kde should extract date/time info from that.
