ATI Rage LT PRO

I wanted to post a solution to a prolbem thats plagued me for quite some time, using a ATI Rage LT PRO card with XFree86 4.x

from what ive been able to find out the prolbem has something to do with the video card using DMA. seams that the video card and the kernel try to wright to the same memory address at the same time causing a imediate hard lockup of the system (requireing cold boot) of corse I cant *actualy* verify any of this. ive tried other things, and they seam to work longer but this is the only thing I found to totaly fix the prolbem.

to fix it add

Option "accel" "false"

to Section "Device" in your XFree86 Config file.

looks rather ugly but it does not crash :)
