The most prominent opponent has been Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the most senior Democratic member of that committee.

John Conyers...making Detroit look bad in yet another area.

He can't help it. He's corrupt, inept, stupid, and incompetent.

He's also a symptom of what had been plaguing my fair city since 1964.

Sad, but true.

The thing that makes me uneasy about this sort of thing is this:

Suppose I am a brilliant independent inventor who comes up with amazing ideas but has no talent or ability in the actual production of a product. Let's say I create prototypes but do not actually produce products for mass production (FU alliteration, I'm alliterating whole words!).

The model that says that I can't license my patents or ideas means that I can't have an idea without producing a whole product. Therefore, the only way for me to innovate without getting steamrolled is to work salaried for one of the big techie companies. I can't just create my own workflow, do my own thing and sell my ideas to the big techie companies. Clearly this isn't what is happening with Rockstar, but that is what Rockstar poses as from a legal perspective and shutting them out could actually stifle some innovative individuals from creating their own living.

Anyway, I am not a brilliant independent inventor, this is just a thought.

Licensing something you've created should be different than anti-competitive practices. If you have a prototype, then you could go into business with someone else who DOES produce the product.

he is certainly neither stupid not incompetent or inept. His corruption shows high level of competence and intelligence.
