Be sure and obtain a large wordlist file and run
make install and make dict to generate the word
list index file. See the README file for more details.

Have a look at the README-WORDS.bz2 and README.bz2 files in /usr/share/doc/cracklib-2.8.19/

It should give you some pointers. Interestingly, I have cracklib installed here as a dependency of sys-apps/shadow and sys-libs/pam. I haven't taken any specific action to give cracklib a bigger dictionary, nor do I understand the benefits of doing so. Guess I had better go and and read more? I suppose it is possible that shadow and/or pam provide the dictionary for cracklib, but considering the function of those programs, I would not assume anything!
