When I login to my system, it get a black screen with a mouse cursor.

Examination of .xsession-errors shows

The offending line is the "exec xsm". I don't have an "xsm"

This sort of smells like it's an old file that didn't get updated as part of the install.

At the risk of throwing too much data in here, the results for: systemctl status gdm" are:

Can we see `journalctl -b`? There is another GNOME process that is obstructed.

Something is seriously going wrong here; "lookup_login_keyring" seems to rely on a session, but that session isn't properly loaded. Thus it is not able to create a login credential here.

Can you file a bug about this at https://bugs.gentoo.org and https://bugzilla.gnome.org/ and let us know the upstream bugzilla.gnome.org URL (here and on bugs.gentoo.org) such that we can follow along (and if needed help further troubleshooting with Gentoo specific instructions).

The above led to this; at first I thought your password was entered wrong when I came across this, but that's probably not the case.

So, things are torn down afterwards.

GNOME session gets left in a broken state, connections closed.

And the rest doesn't like that; after this, it tries to proceed anyway but given the breakage that leads to no improvement. Furthermore, the EDID messages (not quoted) might (or might not) be related; though given the amount of messages and processes involved it's hard to pinpoint it. Thus processing them and trying to fix them as we go should be the way forward... The bug is a first stop. I suggest including the full output as you did here as an attachment as well as a good description should help GNOME upstream help you get this fixed. Good luck!

I've never filed a bug report for Gentoo related to date. It's not clear to me that this should be filed at bugs.gentoo.org Since I'm clearly not the experienced one here, I will follow your recommendation.

Would you agree that this bug should be filed under the product: "Gentoo Linux" ?

Yes, just file it there; if it's wrong we'll re-assign. Some developers like upstream bugs to be filed at our Bugzilla (some don't) as well; especially in cases where it is not clear that upstream caused the bug, as well as to be able to aid on the Gentoo part of resolving the bug. As a result of the resolution we might even be able to backport a patch such that re-emerging something could fix it...
