Hi,

I've been trying to setup qxl/spice as a remote desktop solution, but documentation on how to do this is very scarce. More specifically, I was wondering whether there is any way to start the xspice script and pass options to it (such as port and DISPLAY) using standard init scripts already in place.

Has anyone done this before on gentoo? A quick how-to would be greatly appreciated.

Still I'm not sure how it would work. Say xspice was started, and then I connected to it using a spice client on another computer, would I be greeted with the kdm login screen as if I were running vnc? And if yes, is there anyway to have X use both qxl and xf86-video-ati to host two different sessions? I assume this is the same as having X host two sessions using two different video card adapters (and two keyboards, mice), which I know is possible, but maybe it isn't very straightforward as editing init scripts...

Not sure how to do things manually, but virt-manager seems to set everything up correctly for the host side. It might give you something to look at it see how it does it, in any event.
