I'm playing with btrfs under vanilla kernel 3.12.0 (and tools Btrfs v0.20-rc1-358-g194aa4a) and finding a few strange things.

My volume doesn't mount on its own at boot even though I have in /etc/fstab
Code:
/dev/sdb      /z      btrfs      defaults,compress=lzo   0   1

Manually mounting results in
Code:
mount -t btrfs /dev/sdb /z
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error

In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail or so.

But after I do
Code:
btrfs device scan
which gives no output other than Scanning for Btrfs filesystems, the mount command works.

I can't make snapshots of the root volume. Running
Code:
btrfs subvolume snapshot -r /z /snaps

results in
Code:
Create a readonly snapshot of '/z' in '/snaps/z'
ERROR: cannot snapshot '/z' - Inappropriate ioctl for device

Am I doing things wrong or are these bugs?
