KDE artifacts on desktop and menu not clickable

Hi,

I'm having a few issues with my KDE install, if anyone knows how I can resolve them it would be appreciated.

1. I can open the KDE menu, but clicking on menu items does nothing.
2. I get artifacts on the desktop when e.g above the kde menu upper left corner (screenshot attached)
3. Compositor doesn't start
4. I've enabled the gles flag and compiled kwin, but no kwin_gles bin is created. Do I need one? If so how do I generate the kwin_gles bin?


I have a Radeon 5830 mobile card and am using the opensource radeon driver. If I use the closed source driver everything works fine, but can't use gles.
