Thunderbird 24.1.0 won't link with my Google Calendar

I just upgraded to Thunderbird 24.1.0 and I noticed that the link with Google Calendar no longer works. The Day View is blank and all of the Google Calendar entries in the Calendar view are blank. Since I use Google Calendar for all of my appointments, this is a great annoyance.

I tried following the update procedure for the Provider for Google Calendars. The New->Calendar menuitem is disabled.

I checked the Addons. I am running Lightning 2.6.2 which is the correct version of Lightning. The Provider for Google Calendar version is 0.25, which is also apparently the correct version.

I need some advice on how to fix this.
