Help with Castle Wolfenstein

Hey,

i've been trying to get return to castle wolfenstein to work, i copied

from my windows install (accualy i installed it with winex, took the files off the fake C:\ put them in ~/.wolf/main) now when i type

to run rtcw, i get a garbled looking thing, that i can make windowed with ctrl + enter, and i can pull the console down and manually type commands. i tried changing the resolutin to no avail,

any advice for a linux noob trying to get RTCW to work in Gentoo???

Why are you using winex?

You dont need to use wine/x for this game.

emerge rtcw

then just copy the required pak files over as it tells you to do when its done installing

i was only using wine to get the pak files, cuz i looked all over the CD, and there were no pak files

like when i emerge rtcw
it said "just copy ^files listed above^ to ~/.wolf/main/

so i have no windows drive, so i installed it using wine, but thats it, im running it by typing wolf, not threw wine, i mean i already deleted the wine install,

i just did that ot get the pak files...

i was fooling with it after playing Urban Terror (Quake 3 mod)
when the map on UT was over, i quit, and did my thing, watched conan
whatever, i came back to fool with RtCW, and when i run it....

I see the end of the map stats from my UT game,
and everyone saying gg and all that jazz....

what does that mean? and i wasent running it threw wine,
i ran it by typing
'wolf; in console, which is what the emerge rtcw told me to do

Ok... sorry, i misunderstood.

On my box i put the pak files into

/opt/rtcw/main

not in ~/.wolf/main
and it plays fine

maybe thats whats wrong?

let me guess 2 things

you have an nvidia card??

it will also show the last opengl app that ran fullscreen

try running an opengl screensaver then doing it

mine does this too

it even used to show my last x screen after a reboot too which was strange

Yep. i do.

but when i put the paks in /opt/rtcw/main it worked fine,

How many files are you soposed to get off the cd? All i can find in /mnt/cdrom/Setup/Data/Main is sp_pack1.pk3, sp_pack2.pk3, and sp_pack3.pk3, I coppied those and I get this error:

When I just try wolf.

Thats all the .pk3 files I could find on the cd, I couldn't find default.cfg on it, where do I find that? Or am I just doing something wrong?

hmm, root, but when I was trying to run it I was logged in as root in that terminal to.

I don't have a pack0.pk3 file on my cd, was that soposed to be emerged?

Ok, there was a cd2, I saw cd1 on the cd I had and had to go find cd2. From now on my cd1 will live in the case with cd2. And the world was at peace once again.
