I was trying to update portage by doing the following,
| Code: | emerge sync
emerge -u system |
emerge sync seemed to work fine and when it was finished it said that I needed to update portage. When I ran emerge -u system however it came up with this error

I tried to emerge just baselayout but then it just came up with a different file with a problem.
Any ideas on this?

Another problem I am having is that pango will not emerge. I get this error when trying to emerge gaim or mozilla.

ya, i get the same error from smellycheeseboy. i even unmerged freetype, re-emerged it, and emerged pango but to no avail.
