When I suspend the system the fan keeps running. I have two fans. One for the cpu and another fan in power supply. As far as I got to know I should not tamper with the power supply fan. In fact I'm not uncomfortable with it (yet :) ). The cpu fan should be controllable.

What I've tried so far are: power management tools of gentoo and bios. I will cancel all the things I've made and restart from the beginning.

Could you please give me a point to start with?

The mobo is:P4M80-M4 and the cpu fan is 3 pin.

Dear Mods and those who are capable of merging threads!
I have another therad here https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-975034-highlight-.html with the title "Fan control via lm_sensors and pwmconfig" but please don't put my new thread to the end of it.

Thanks

See if the machine supports S3 suspend (BIOS setting, motherboard dependent) instead of (usually) S1 suspend. If not, likely you won't be able to get the fans to shut off. I have one motherboard that supports only S1 suspend and its behavior probably is what your machine is doing, machine is off, everything is cold, but fans are on.

Hopefully it will suspend/resume just fine just as before as this is a different method of suspend. Else you'll have to resort to STD (hibernation) to make it shut off fans.
