...again, I'm beating my head against the proverbial wall with Kontact...
I have this question:
Akonadi 4.4.11 is stable, but akonadi-console is not in any version...
so...KDE is unstable in Gentoo? This all makes sense, of course, because Kontact and KMail simply do not work for me...the 'retrieving folder contents' is absolutely killing me and makes Kontact unusable...
What is the difference between Akonadi and Akonadi-console
and between libkdepim and kdepim-common-libs? _________________ --------------

AFAIK akonadi got split up in the server part and the resources after kde-4.4. (akonadi vs. akonadi-server+kdepimlibs)
akonadi-console is a developer-tool to debug akonadi / resources / ... - nothing a user should ever touch unless a dev tells you so to help fixing an issue you face.
Also the kdepim-libs got refactored, but I can't say if it was done by kde upstream or by the Gentoo kde devs. But ebuilds + ChangeLogs should tell you more. |

I had this problem with 4.11, tried deleting the suggested files with no joy, however setting up a new user kmail worked fine. I didn't have time to look into it further, but I guess the required files changed. Sometimes I think KDE needs its own user level etc-update! |
