Hi,

I got an error while compiling gvfs, as the title says. Here the logs:

Code:

I can't understand why it is complaining about the lack of paranoia.h: both dev-libs/libcdio-paranoia and media-sound/cdparanoia are installed (latest keyworded versions).

Code:
eselect cdparanoia list
Available cdparanoia binary implementations:
  [1]   cdparanoia-paranoia
  [2]   libcdio-paranoia *

Thanks for any help.

You are using dev-libs/libcdio-paranoia from ~arch, therefore you must also use gnome-base/gvfs from ~ərch. Remember, mixing arch's are not tested and when you experience problem with building some package against another from ~arch you should always try keywording the another too before asking questions. In this case, the fixes for libcdio went for about 2 dozen packages in ~arch only.

Add this to your /etc/portage/package.keywords too:

=gnome-base/gvfs-1.14*

Thanks ssuominen! Sorry for my trivial question.

By the way: I think I should put kernel headers 3.7 under ~arch as well, I'm using gentoo-sources-3.7.3

Just a heads up. The problem is not so much mixing arch with ~arch, it is that gvfs-1.12.x has a problem which has been fixed with 1.14.x. I was running into the same problem with gvfs-1.12.3-r1 which *is* ~arch, as is the rest of my system. However, I have masked Gnome 3, and it turns out that if you have the USE flag "gnome-keyring" enabled, gvfs-1.14* pulls in a library that itself requires another library from Gnome 3. That meant that nothing newer than 1.12.3-r1 could be built. Getting rid of that USE flag solved my problem and allowed gvfs-1.14.2 to build.

Thanks to ssuominen for helping me through this.

The gnome-keyring flag pulls in app-crypt/libsecret. libsecret-0.15 does not pull in any Gnome 3 packages. It's libsecret-0.15-r1 that does.
