Not sure were i have ran off track here.
8800gt pci-e
amd64 kernel 3.9.11-r1
Just rebuilt my system. thought kernel 3.10.x was giving me issues with the nvidia driver. so started over with 3.9.11-r1
have tried several drivers from 173.x threw 331.x
With 313.x installed i have tried various xorg.conf's nvidia-xconfig, Xorg-configure with the same result
Black screen with blinking cursor that never times out.
if i load an old xorg.conf that was used with my previous nvidia card.. kde starts up but certain games are distorted and unplayable.
The 8800gt thats in it now worked fine prior to rebuilding my system.
Also lspci does not show my video card and the xorg.conf's generated by nvidia-config are generic with no specific device listed. |

Before you can fix XOrg, you need to figure out why lspci doesn't list your card. Did you turn off your graphics port in your BIOS _________________ The Birth and Growth of Science is the Death and Atrophy of Art -- Unknown
