| Why it's not masked in portage? I tried the one from portage and the one from libreoffice website (I have compiled the source code) and both have the same symptoms: crashing while opening some impress presentations / saving documents / etc. Newer version 4.1.3.2 looks better. Who decides whether to mark it as stable or not to mark? I'm a professional user of this software and ready to test and to share my experience. |

Do you have libreoffice set to use its own file dialogs?

tools - options - libreoffice - general
check "use libreoffice dialogs"
use of non-libreoffice dialogs (especially kde) causes crashes
when saving / opening files (this is a known bug which may
be affecting you)

I too use 4.1.2.3 but I have no problem with stability unless
I try to use system file dialogs
you must have another problem ...

| ОК. And what architecture do you use? My one is amd64. I use Impress much and with the most files 4.1.2.3 works fine, but with some of them - crushes - both gentoo version & the one from libreoffice website. As for earlier and older versions I don't see these problems. Also sometimes in 4.1.2.3 I see blank dialog when changing cell attributes. And "Save As" dialog also cruses sometimes |

Why should it? Upstream says it is stable, so it is not masked, but keyworded in the Portage tree. If you install packages that are not in the stable tree, it is assumed you know what you are doing. | albright wrote: | in libreoffice menu

I am using libreoffice-4.1.3.2 on KDE-4.11.3 with KDE-Dialogs, and it is dead stable for me.

Note: USE="gtk3" for LibreOffice sure to lead to problems. So if you have installed libreoffice with the gtk3 USE flag enabled, then please try without it. It is not described as "Enable highly experimental gtk3 frontend" without a reason.

As I explained the problem is not in 4.1.3.2? but in 4.1.2.3.
After opening of some (not all, but some) impress presentations it's crushing. In messages I see:
localhost kernel: [ 1917.079071] traps: soffice.bin[3525] general protection ip:7f86b741548a sp:7fffa760bd50 error:0 in libstdc++.so.6.0.17[7f86b73b3000+e8000]
But in newer 4.1.3.2 everything is fine (this error is not reproduced) |

sorry about confusion about version numbers
I rebuilt my libreoffice with Yamakuzure's flags and re-enabled
kde dialogs
I still get crashes
the message in konsole is:

EDIT: looks like perhaps building qtgui with +gtkstyles has solved this; at least I've
opened a new instance of libreoffice and saved a document several times without
a crash .... we shall see

libstdc++.so? Which version of gcc do you have installed and which are the USE flags for gcc and the CFLAGS for both gcc and libreoffice? (Note: Try with emerge --info <package>)
libreoffice is (like all OpenOffice instanciations) *highly* delicate about CFLAGS. So if you have *any* Graphite or LTO stuff enabled, I'd recommend to try without first.

| So it seams that it's a well known bug for those who use kde flag. And as I checked it's not yet hacked even in current developing version from libreoffice git repo. |

All file dialogs are fine. I am using qtcurve, maybe it's a style/design issue?
However, if I try to move cells in localc with the mouse as described above, it crahes here as well. I never do this, because I find it too hard to aim the mouse correctly. ctrl-x + ctrl-v is faster for me in any case. That's why I never noticed this bug before.
