allow xfce4-battery-plugin to shut down/suspend the machine

currently using xfce4/slim/xdm with ConsoleKit/PolicyKit/udev (according to this thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-858965.html).
i would like to be able to set a shutdown command for the battery plugin, when charge is at 5% and or something else at 10%, but the least hackiest way.
i searched around and some suggested modifying the core policies which affect all users, some suggested sending messages directly to dbus, some said to use sudo to execute shutdown (-h now)/halt/etc.
currently the log out->shutdown/reboot/etc buttons work fine from the xfce panel, is there a way to use the same mechanic here?

Install xfce4-power-manager, go to Application Menu → Settings → Power Manager
Choose "On Battery"

but that needs CONFIG_TIMER_STATS (at least according to emerge)
do i really need that?
i dont really want to enable kernel debugging if not neccessary

Don't know if it is needed. Probably, though, if emerge tells you so.
What's the problem with it? It's one option to enable, it's not as if you need all the kernel debugging stuff there is in order to activate it.
