Hello,

i wanted to ask, if there is a way to have multiple Boost versions on 1 System.
For my education i need the new Boost 1.53 but for my work i need 1.49.x .
I remember that earlier there were a boost eselect, but it seems to have disappeared?

Anyone an idea? :)

A workaroung for your use case could be

1. an additional kernel cmdline parameter having started by a special grub selection:
boost_for_work

2. you then could in /etc/local.d/<script>
if grep boost_for_work /proc/cmdline

3. quickly emerge back a suitable set
emerge --ask=n --usepkg @boost_work_set

I keep package bins after compile by heaving in /etc/portage/make.conf:
Code:
FEATURES="${FEATURES} buildpkg .... "
EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS="--binpkg-respect-use=y ...."

PS: That work_set and private_set of different boost would not just need to have boost but all dependend packages in it.

Slotted Boost was convenient for users, but such a pain for the maintainers that it is no longer supported. You must install at most one version of Boost.
