Hello Group,

I've built my gentoo-sources kernel 3.3.8 with uvesafb and I have what i believe is a correct framebuffer statement in my grub.conf, but when I start gentoo as a virtualbox guest OS, the framebuffer is not working.

grub.conf can be seen here: http://bpaste.net/show/37441/

uvesfb setting:

Kernel --> Device Drivers --> Graphics Support --> Support for frame buffer devices --> Userspace VESA VGA graphics support <built in, not module>

What am I missing?
Thank you.

sidenote: a big thank you to Neddy Seagoon for mentioning "wgetpaste" app in another post; it is a simple miracle worker and reduces the omg moment when you realize you can't easily copy/paste between terminal in virtualbox and OS host.

[SOLVED]

After going through the Gentoo Framebuffer wiki, I misunderstood the installation docs: uvesafb appears only to be used with initramfs.
I do not want to use an initramfs so I tried the VGA Framebuffer option, NOT the User space VESA VGA.

Framebuffer in boot terminal works; but, it does appear to be slow in virtualbox.
I'll need to follow-up to see if there are additional options to speed up scrolling and display on VGA framebuffer.

Framebuffer in VirtualBox was slow, but with the following, it became fast (well, at least it was fast enough for me).
Code:
/boot/grub/grub.conf
    title Gentoo 3.10.7
    root (hd0,0)
    kernel /boot/kernel-3.10.7-gentoo root=/dev/sda1 video=uvesafb:800x600-32,mtrr:1,redraw
