|
|
Hello
I copied some TTF font on to the /usr/local/share/fonts. and the i did fc-cache -vf.
But i can't use them in VT environment like urxvt and so on.
I emerge urxvt with XFT but no luck.
xlsfont |grep <font_name> doesn't find that fonts.
What is the solution. and i am not the only one. I ask in IRC but no luck there.
Please share your insights
thank you |

Code: | ~ $ urxvt -fn consolas
urxvt: unable to load base fontset, please specify a valid one using -fn, aborting. |

:sigh:
I've stopped using urxvt quite awhile ago, but some general facts haven't changed since.
1. that fontconfig sees the font means nothing for xlsfonts, as it uses a completely different (legacy) scheme
2. as the manual page says, xft fonts need to be prefixed with "xft:" and their required size needs to be explicitly stated (if it's the first font in the list) |
