There are a few points to consider regarding recent posts:

  1. Google is your friend, or pretty much any other search engine.
  2. The more you figure out on your own, the more impressed everyone will be and the more eager they are to keep answering your questions.
  3. Even experienced Gentoo users can have bad days. Then they get cranky and tell you to RTFM. I've done it too, and while it's not cool it is understandable sometimes. If you see it in a post you just submitted, it might be time to go get some sleep. :)
  4. Questions are OK, but sooner or later you'll find that the answers don't come so fast all the time. If people sense you're being lazy by posting a question, they'll ignore you.
  5. A somewhat more progressive approach would be to ask which FM to R.
  6. Having dealt with multiple teenagers and even a few who tackled some sort of Linux, I have little to no doubt as to the authenticity of gogobebe's age claim.
  7. When people get cranky online, sometimes there's a bit of truth in their rants, right at the spot it hurts you most. It's not good to fire back with equal or more intensity (guilty!) but sometimes you might want to to reexamine your actions.

and the lack of quick install guides for all archs does not help the situation.

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86-quickinstall.xml is a FM to R... but it is very possible it does not cover your arch. id like to adapt this to amd64 on the wiki pages but it needs importing first.

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Man_page

user $ man man = manual page to the manual page system
user $ man emerge = manual on how to use emerge more effectively, and tells you what flags do what... ie emerge -1av 1 is explained in 1 shot a is ask v is verbose as in long long long explanations of what is going on.

or reading man pages online is very helpful too...

I am watching the video (he explains what everything does) After I have done that, installed my gentoo WITH a desktop on virtualbox, I will do it on the machine with the manual and no video. I think I should just do it once with the video completly and get a full working gentoo then go onto the serious stuff :)
Thanks guys
and I'll try to google things more often - appriciate the advise!

Hi! It's been a while eh?
I'm now 15 and while googling my username "gogobebe2" for fun, I came accross this old thread. Just wanted to know if you guys are still around. :)
After reading this post I can't help but notice I was a complete moron 2 years ago lol.
