Is anyone getting the issue of a blank screen under KDE?

I cant seem to get it to wake up the screen, no matter what keys I press nothing will wake the screen up, I have acpi_backlight=vendor and i915.semaphores=1 as boot options as suggest on an Arch wiki, but it still seems to happen, the shortcut keys to up the brightness do not work, and there does not seem to be anything in the logs.

Edit:
Solved by putting Windows back on laptop

"Wake up" seems to imply that the screen lost sync and is in DPMS off mode? Or just black screen with/without mouse cursor?

I'm getting a black screen right after selecting kernel 3.10.7-r1 in grub...the kernel loads, and the last thing I see is
Code:
loading kdm
loading mysql

and then it goes completely black...no nvidia logo, no error, nothing...

I had to do a hard shut down and boot back into a previous kernel...

Nothing, no mouse cursor, yet if a video is playing i can hear the sound but see nothing, and can not do anything
