KDE 4.11.2: no desktop effects after update

Hello Gentooers,

I've just updated to KDE 4.11.2 (from 4.11.1), rebooted and found desktop effects to be missing although they appear to be turned on in my system settings which is quite puzzling. Trying to disable and re-enable them froze my desktop. I got a message "17 desktop effects could not be loaded" but clicking "Details" button in order to obtain more information did not work.

Two things you can try or look at

- Using propr.Nvidia drivers I have following, as root do:
