Gentoo guest on Win7 Virtualbox - full screen issue

I have Gentoo installed as a guest on Virtualbox (Win7 host). I've installed the Vbox guest extensions. I can go to full screen mode when logged in as root, but not when logged in as a non-root user. Any thoughts on how to correct this? Thanks.

I think this is a VB issue not gentoo, maybe worthwhile asking there as gentoo doesn't knows it runs on VB
