Hello All,
I just wanted to give all of you a status update in regards to Kernel Seeds.
I have purchased the rights to Kernel Seeds and currently in the process of migrating
everything to Funtoo. Although Funtoo will be maintaining things, Kernel Seeds will be
usable by Funtoo, Gentoo and any other distribution users. Since I began with Gentoo
back when Daniel Robbins first started this distribution and now Funtoo, it would only
be fair for both communities along with the other communities to benefit from this
wonderful product. Our goal will be to keep this up and running as well as Pappy McFae
kept it.
Always remember that although Funtoo will be the maintainer now, Pappy was the one
who inspired this and Funtoo, Gentoo and all users alike should never forget this. I hope
that we can continue to provide an exemplary product as Pappy did.
Please note that it will take a few days to get everything transfered and a little more time
to get up to speed on the functionality, so please be patient.
Thank you,
Tony Pelaez |

You had not enough money for purchasing the rights and the spirit altogether ? _________________

eusanpe, I don't want to overwork you but I was wondering, do you think you could add kernel seeds for ck-sources? I'm interested in using them. |

I used funtoo a while ago but switched back to gentoo after a year or so ... anyway I'm wondering how kernel seeds is going to fit in with http://www.funtoo.org/Funtoo_Linux_Kernels ? |

From the user standpoint, it is generally(*) absolutely safe to use a gentoo-sources . config with the ck-sources.
All kernel options that are incompatible with SCHED_BFS are automagically disabled, all kernel options that must be set with SCHED_BFS are automagically forced set when makeing menuconfig.
=>
- Copy paste your seeds to /usr/src/linux-x.y.z-ck/.config
- cd /usr/src/linux-x.y.z-ck
- make menuconfig
- ensure that General Setup/BFS cpu scheduler is checked (It should be per default)
- do the adjustments you wish
- Save
And that's it.
(*) Rare exceptions being when herds do not trust the maintainer
Follow the https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-941030.html thread, you'll be made aware of these rare occurrences. _________________

Ah, thank you aCOSwt. I'll give it a shot when I need to upgrade my kernel. |
