Hi all -

I was trying to use zim wiki. Whe I started it up, it printed this:

INFO: Trashing of files not supported, could not import 'gio'
INFO: No file monitor support - changes will go undetected
INFO: Trashing of files not supported, could not import 'gio'
INFO: No file monitor support - changes will go undetected
Traceback (most recent call last):

zim.main(argv)
File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/zim/__init__.py", line 446, in main
gui.present(page, **optsdict)
File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/zim/ipc.py", line 756, in call
raise re
ValueError: No such object: <RemoteObject: zim.gui.GtkInterface(file:///home/dayd/Notebooks/Notes)>

Not sure what it meant, but then I tried zim --standalone:
INFO: Trashing of files not supported, could not import 'gio'
INFO: No file monitor support - changes will go undetected
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/zim", line 74, in <module>
zim.main(argv)
File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/zim/__init__.py", line 426, in main
import zim.gui
File "/usr/lib64/python2.7/site-packages/zim/gui/__init__.py", line 21, in <module>
import gtk
ImportError: No module named gtk

Even though I have pygtk installed, there is no module for gtk. I am gussing this has something to do with the gtk 2/3 transition, but I can't find much on the web or in bugs here. Any ideas?

equery u pygtk:
* Found these USE flags for dev-python/pygtk-2.24.0-r3:
U I
- - doc : Add extra documentation (API, Javadoc, etc). It
is recommended to enable per package instead of
globally
- - examples : Install examples, usually source code
- - python_targets_python2_6 : Build with Python 2.6
+ + python_targets_python2_7 : Build with Python 2.7
- - test : Workaround to pull in packages needed to run
with FEATURES=test. Portage-2.1.2 handles this
internally, so don't set it in
make.conf/package.use anymore

Thanks for replying so long ago - I wasn't able to get back around to this. Anyway, it appears that it works on my laptop, so I suppose I need to figure out what the difference is there from my desktop. I tried the remove/recompile on both - one worked, the other didn't. While they are both systems w/different hardware, I can't imagine that being a factor in this particular case, and both have pretty much the same state w/respect to portage - similar make, confs, both synced at the same time and updated etc.

Will keep looking into it as time permits.

Thanks!
