I know it's experimental, but in overall I'm wondering if it worths installing and if it's pretty usable. Haven't you tried it? _________________ https://gentoo.curl.pink

There's a layman overlay for Unity, it seems to be maintained, though I never used it personally so I can't comment on its quality.
As far as I understand, Unity is a gnome-shell plugin nowadays, so you should concentrate on getting a gnome3 installation into shape, then walk to Unity from there.
