OK, I want to mount two shares so user can mount them by clicking (eg in dolphin).

/etc/fstab:
Code:

//geoscdom.geosc.uh.edu/software        /mnt/software   cifs    username=xx,password=xx,domain=GEOSC,defaults 0 0
//geoscdom.geosc.uh.edu/scanfolder        /mnt/scanner    cifs   username=xx,password=xx,domain=GEOSC,defaults 0 0

/mnt:
Code:

drwxr-xr-x  2 root root 4096 Jan  9  2009 scanner
drwxr-xr-x  2 root root    0 Sep 24 12:55 software

as user I can mount /mnt/software, also using dolphin,
but /mnt/scanner fails with

Code:

mount: only root can mount //geoscdom.geosc.uh.edu/scanfolder on /mnt/scanner

Now I'm really confused. As root I can do it, but not as user.

What am I missing?

Jon
