I need advice

Hi!

From my sound system I expect the following:
1. Dolby 5.1 Sound when watching DVD (incl. center)
2. Sound out of ALL speakers (front L/R, center, rear L/R AND SUBWOOFER!!!)

What do you recommend? ALSA? OSS? Or sound support through the kernel?

My problems are as follows:
1. ALSA: front L/R and rear L/R are working fine but not the center and also not the subwoofer (essential)
2. Kernel support and emu10k1 emerge: sound only comes out of the front R speaker.

What is the best for my needs?

Please advise me.

What kernel version are you using?
What soundcard do you have?

Whatever you do, don't do OSS

Hi!

ad. 1: I'm using the gentoo-sources 2.4.20-r7 kernel.
ad. 2: I have a Creative Soundblaster Live 5.1 Digital as my soundcard and I have analog speakers connected to the card.
