|

Hi,
if have some trouble getting the temp sensor of one of my DRAM modules working. In my computer there are 3 of kingston kvr16r11d4/8i ram modules. The 2 older ones get recognized by the jc42 driver and added to the sysfs correctly. A recently bought one does not get claimed by the jc42 driver. If I run sensors-detect it gets recognized as an MAX1617 i2c device and added the adm1021 driver which does not report any temperatures to lm_sensors.
I know from the datasheet that the module is compatible to the jedec42.4 standard, so a manual:
Code: |
echo jc42 0x1a > /sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-0/new_device
(as stated in the jc42 documentation)
|
brings the device to work.
Is it possible to create a device node in sysfs by using some udev-rule or is there some other way to do this?
I would like to write a patch for the jc42 module, but I don't know how get the device ID. I've tried the i2c-tools, were not able to identify the device ID.
Can anyone point me to a solution for this problem.
Thanks,
chris |

Maybe dmidecode would show some identifying info for the RAM? (those fields are blank on mine, but my PC's pretty old anyway...) |
